Free floor plan software that's actually free

Most "free" floor plan tools are free the way a casino buffet is free. Here's what to watch for — and what Playout does instead.

What "free" usually means

If you've searched for free floor plan software, you've probably hit some version of this: you draw your whole plan, and then discover that exporting it costs money, or it exports with a watermark, or you were on a 14-day trial, or the door symbols and dimensions you need are in the "pro tier." Where's the catch?

There isn't one, and the architecture is the proof: Playout runs entirely in your browser, and your layouts are stored on your device by default. No account, no ads, no selling your data — there's no server-side cost to recoup. A free sign-in exists only if you want the same layouts on two devices, synced live.

Who it's for

Playout is built for planning a real renovation — moving a wall, reworking a bathroom, checking whether a king bed leaves room to walk. Every number is a real construction dimension, and the clearance rules that matter (door swings, walkway widths, toilet clearances) are easy to check right on the drawing. It's not trying to be photorealistic interior-design rendering software — it's trying to answer "will this actually fit?" precisely and fast.
